Hearing care for all - Free hearing test initiative

Desira Audiology Services is currently participating in the the initiative "Hearing care for all" which is a pilot project being run between the Ministry of Inclusion and Quality of Life, MEP Alex Agius Saliba and the Malta Association of Audiologists.

This project is offering free hearing tests for a number of people in the local community. Although numbers are limited, the importance of this project cannot be understated. It is estimated that over 5% of the world's population needs rehabilitation and assistance related to hearing loss (https://www.who.int/news-room/fact-sheets/detail/deafness-and-hearing-loss). Not everyone with a hearing loss has access to hearing care. Even in the local scenario, where there are a number of hearing care providers, people do not always know where to get their hearing checked.

It is hoped that this project will shed light on hearing loss and encourage more people to get their hearing tested. If you are over the age of 60, it is a good idea to have your hearing tested every 1-2 years. This ensures that you get the hearing care you need, at the best time possible.

Need to get tested? Always go to a registered audiologist. Audiologists are specialised in hearing and are in the best position to advise you on what to do in case of a hearing loss.
